A dispersal order will be in effect in Stanley town centre and the bus station this weekend.
It will run from 4pm tonight (Friday, January 23) until 4pm on Sunday, January 25 and is aimed at tackling recent incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Anyone suspected of causing trouble in these areas will be issued with a dispersal order, banning them from returning. Those who ignore the order will face arrest.
Extra officers will be on patrol throughout the weekend to monitor the situation and deal with anyone causing trouble.
Inspector Andy Liddell, of Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The behaviour we’ve seen recently is completely unacceptable. “Stanley town centre should be a place for everyone to enjoy, not spoiled by a small number of individuals causing trouble. “Anti-social behaviour makes the lives of those living and working in the area a misery, and we will deal with offenders robustly.”
